“But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you...For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also...But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” ~Matthew 6:3-4, 21, 33
No one noticed the gift she gave;
No one heard the prayer she prayed;
No one saw the kind deed done;
No one cheered when that victory was won—or so it seemed.
But Jesus received her sacrifice;
Jesus responded to her call;
Jesus acknowledged the self-less act;
All heaven resounded with praise for the souls saved and strongholds broken!
“Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.” ~John 6:27
Lord Jesus, we acknowledge before You that the gifts You readily bless are those less noticed by others. Let us not be those who seek praise from men but rather those who are willing to labor for reward that will never be lost or stolen. And as we seek You and your kingdom first, please align our desires and our motivations with Your heart of sacrificial love. We pray today for the unsung heroes and leaders among us. Help us express our gratitude to them as well as to You. Remind us of their names, even as we continue to pray for them now.
