In communing with Christ, we will become more like Him allowing us to intercede with His heart for the world!
“Christ Jesus who died--more than that, who was raised to life--is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.” ~Romans 8:34
Jesus rose from the dead, ascended into heaven and is now seated at God’s right hand, making intercession for us. Therefore prayer for others, intercession, is the most Christlike activity we can be involved in. Prayer is the greatest, most lasting, most rewarding investment you can make while alive on earth. Prayer is the most precious gift you can give to Jesus.
We need to spend much time with Jesus, both in communion and in sharing his intercessory burden for the world and the church. Just as we become more like those we spend the most time with, to become Christ-like we must spend quality time with Jesus.
The more you love him, the more you will want to spend time with him. A strong prayer life testifies to a strong love of Jesus. You cannot have a weak or casual prayer life if you are passionately devoted to the Lord. The more you are with him the more you will think and speak like him and resemble Him. (Wesley Duewel)
Consider singing or speaking the words of the hymn “Take Time to be Holy” as your personal prayer, such as this:
Lord Jesus, I take this time to be holy. Let me speak with You often. I want to abide in You always and feed on Your Word. I take this time to be holy even though the world rushes on to do and accomplish much activity. My choice is You. Please help me spend more time apart with You alone. For then I will look more steadfastly to You. Then I will become more like You. And others will begin to see You more than me in whatever I do.
